Ann Arbor, Michigan

This circa-1866 house in a historic district is need of significant repairs to the original post-and-beam framing due to age, settlement, and ground water infiltration. The front of the two-story wing has already undergone repairs, including beam replacement and new wood cladding. Black Raven Architects is documenting the existing conditions of the entire house and developing a phased restoration program to prioritize repairs and fit the owner’s budget. A structural engineer and a specialized restoration contractor will be part of the team approach as we evaluate interventions that will be economically feasible while maintaining the historic character of the building.
